A musical film with two great singers in main roles - Madam Noorjahan and Zubaida Khanum. Zarif played the title role first time.
The film story
Patay Khan (Zarif) is a poor puppet showman who earns a living by performing puppet shows in villages. He falls in love with Jano (Zubaida Khanum), sister of the Chodhary Dado (Allauddin), and often gets beaten for it but remains resilient.
In the same village, Meena (Noor Jehan) loves her guest (Aslam Parvez), but her mother (Rekha) refuses to arrange their marriage.
Aslam wins a lottery and is taken to the city by a broker (Nazar) who tricks him into forgetting Meena by making him a fake princ. Zarif, posing as Meena’s brother, finds Aslam and rescues him.
Meanwhile, Allauddin abducts Noor Jehan to force marriage, but her sister helps her escape. They reunite in the city and return to the village, where Zarif is beaten by Allauddin but recovers and reunites with Zubaida Khaum after Allauddin escaped from the village.
