M. Ismael appeared in the first ever Lahore made film Daughters of Today (1927). His leading roles as Yamla Jatt (1940) and Khazanchi (1941) were super hit roles. He was seen in more than 40 films before partition.
In Pakistan, M. Ismael was seen in 176 films and mostly in the character actor roles. He received President Award in his Urdu film Qismat in 1956. His last film was Dildar Sadqay in 1977.
M. Ismael was born in 1902 in a Jeweler family in Lahore. He was a talented art designer and calligrapher as well. He died on November 22, 1975.
