Zarif was first ever comedy actor in Pakistani films who got success in title roles and he was also the first ever big star, who died on the peak of his career. His appeared in 56 movies, 33 Urdu and 23 Punjabi. His first film was 2 Kinaray in 1949 and the last film was Jamalo in 1962.
Zarif got immens popularity in the title role of Patay Khan (1955). His pair was with legendary singer and actress Zubaida Khanum in this film. He got more fame after a mega hit song by Inayat Hussain Bhatti, which was picturized on him in film Mahi Munda (1956)..
As a part time singer, he sang a mega hit song with Zubaida Khanum in film Choomantar (1959)..
Zarif played the all time best role in film Kartar Singh in 1959 which was a very difficult, serious and unique role. He was the elder brother of legandary comedian Munawar Zarif. His real name was Mohammad Siddiq and he was born in Gujranwala on June 1, 1926. He died on October 30, 1960.
