Despite a big competition from veteran film heroines Noorjahan, Sawarn Lata, Ragni, Asha Poslay, Yasmin and Sabiha Khanum, Musarrat Nazir gained remarkable success in both Urdu and Punjabi movies. She was introduced in a minor role in classic Urdu film Qatil (1955) and got breakthrough from super hit Punjabi film Pattan same year.
Musarrat Nazir was first heroine of three blockbuster movies, Mahi Munda (1956), Yakkay Wali (1957) and Kartar Singh (1959). Other famous movies were Patay Khan (1955), Baghi, Qismat (1956), Zehr-e-Ishq, Jatti (1958), Raaz, Jhoomar (1959), Gulfam (1961) and Shaheed (1962). Her last released film was Bahadur (1967).
After she married a doctor in the 1960s, she left film industry and settled in Canada. She was back in the 1980s with her hidden singing talent, which shocked even Madam Noorjahan.
