Zeenat (and not the playback singer Zeenat Begum!) was introduced in a famous Noorjahan's pre-partition film Hamjoli (1946). She was seen as heroine in film Guru (1947) and her first Pakistani film was Pheray in 1949. She was an actress, producer and director and appeared in more than 200 movies as a supporting actress. Her last film was Lahu Day Rishtay in 1980.
Zeenat produced 6 movies, Khul Ja Sim Sim (1959), Badla (1968), Hadbandi (1971), Bin Badal Barsat (1975), Aabshar (1978) and Ik Nikah Hor Sahi (1982). She also directed three movies, Bin Badal Barsat (1975), Aabshar (1978) and Aap Ki Khatir (1980).
Zeenat was born in East Punjab, India in 1931. Her real name was Shamim Akhtar and she died on December 11, 2007 in Lahore.
