Zeenat Begum was known for her famous Punjabi duet "Sohniye Ni, Heeriye Ni, Teri Yaad Nay Sataya.." in film Gul Baloch in 1946. It was the first ever song by the legendary playback singer Mohammad Rafi.

Her first film as playback singer was Mangti in 1942 which was first super hit Punjabi film in the history. Her other films were Nishani (1942), Dasi (1944), Bhai Jan (1945), Dhamki (1945) etc.

Zeenat Begum sang 38 songs in in 12 Pakistani films. Her first film was Jahad in 1950 and the last Ilzam in 1953. She died on November 11, 1966 in Lahore.
