Sultana Zaman was seen as first heroine in six Dacca based Pakistani Urdu films like Chanda (1962), Mala (first cinemascope colored film in Pakistan), Saat Rang (1965), Ujala (1966), Jungli Phool (1968) and Meray Armaan Meray Sapnay (1969).

Sultana Zaman was born in Natore (Bangladesh) in 1936. Her debut film Matir Pahar was a Bengali film which was released in 1959. The film was produced by S.M. Parvez and directed by Mahiuddin. Story, script and dialogue were written by Syed Shamsul Haq. She received a Chitrakash Award for her role in the film.

Among her other memorable Bengali films are Notun Digonto (1968), Onekdiner Chena, Jowar Elo, Janajani, Shonar Kajol. She produced Chhodmobeshi and Bhanumoti. She received National Film Award of Bangladesh in 2009 for lifetime achievement.

Sultana Zaman passed away on May 20, 2012. She was 76.
