He assisted Rasheed Attray, A. Hameed and Nashad in many films. His first independently film as a music director was Ik Nageena in 1969 but he struggled many years. He got fame from film Bobby in 1984 and was recognized as a top music director from film Mushkil in 1995. His other musical movies were Lazawal (1984), Ghoonghat (1996), Sangam, Deevanay Teray Pyar Kay (1997), Teray Pyar Mein (2000), Yeh Dil Aap Ka Hua (2002) and Koi Tujh Sa Kahan (2005).
Amjad Bobby was nephew of legendary music director Rasheed Attray and his father Ghulam Hussain Khan was also a classical singer, who trained him in music. He was born in Amritsar, Indian Punjab and died on April 15, 2005 in Lahore.
