Aliya was one of the most talented dancer artist and a successful side-heroine, but never became a top class film heroine. Only one film as solo heroine Ishq Mera Naa in 1974 was a super hit film. She was introduced as child artist in film Unchay Mahal in 1963, then she became a supporting and vamp actress in many films. Her first appearance as solo heroine was in her parents father Arshad Kazmi director and mother Mumtaz Bano producers musical Punjabi film Dhee Rani in 1969.

Aliya married film director Altaf Hussain and dropped her film career when she was on the top of her film career. After separation, her comeback failed in the 1980s. Few years ago she tried again as supporting actress but did not succeed. She will be remembered for the super hit song filmed on her in Mastana Mahi (1971)..
