Gul Zaman was producer, director and hero in Lahore based Punjabi film Gul Baloch in 1946. He introduced the legendary playback singer Mohammad Rafi in this film, who sang his first ever song, which was a Punjabi duets with Zeenat Begum "Heeriye Ni, Sohniye Ni, Teri Yaad Nay Sataya.." and this song was filmed on Gul Zaman and Salma. Sordas (1939), Mard-e-Punjab, Jagga Daku (1940), Mera Punjab, Sehti Murad (1941), Mangti, Gawandi, Patwari (1942) and Nakathu (1945) were some of other pre-partition films.

Gul Zaman played supporting roles in Pakistani films like Sassi (1954), Chann Mahi (1956), Behrupia (1960), Lado (1966), Sher Jawan (1969), Heer Ranjha (1970) etc.. He was a tall and handsome actor who died on April 15, 1993. He belongs to Dinga, district Gujrat.
