The film story
Nazir is a clerk who is worried about the marriage of his daughter (Sabiha Khanum) to (Santosh) and is making all the preparations. His elder son (Ejaz) is appearing for his BA examination while his younger son is still a school student.
With increasing age, his eyesight has become weak and he has also received a notice of dismissal from the office due to mistakes in calculations. With his begging and persuasion, the owner has promised that when his son passes his BA, he will hire him but fate does not allow this and the elder son (Ejaz), while happy to get first position in the BA examination, dies in a traffic accident on the same day.
Due to the sudden death of his son, Nazir, in a state of grief and helplessness, hits a wall and becomes completely blind. In such a situation, Sabiha Khanum is not ready to leave her father and younger brother helpless and demands Santosh to postpone the marriage until her younger brother is educated and employed.
Santosh agrees, but his mother (Maya Devi) does not agree and with the seduction of her employee Munshi (Allauddin), forces Santosh to marry (Shola). The bride suspects Santosh's loyalty from the very first day and leaves him in the city due to his fights.
Sabiha Khanum supports her father and brother by working. The brother (Nusrat Kardar), after graduating from high school, marries Munshi's niece (Zeenat) with the consent of his elder sister, but during this time Munshi (Allauddin) also visits his niece's house and stays there permanently. He is addicted to opium, but due to lack of money, he sometimes buys goods on credit, and sometimes he satisfies his addiction by stealing and selling household goods. The sister (Sabiha Khanum) is accused of stealing the goods, which the brother also believes. In such a situation, in a state of bad temper and hypocrisy, the sister leaves home, taking her old father with her.
Sabiha Khanum has to work again and the child she gets to babysit is Santosh's, whose wife (Shola), consumed by suspicion and lust, tries to kill her but falls down the stairs and dies. In this way, the two old lovers are reunited. Meanwhile, the brother (Nusrat Kardar) and sister-in-law (Zeenat) learn of the innocence of their sister (Sabiha Khanum) and they rush to apologize to her.
