Zaheer Kashmiri was a progressive poet and writer, who made a film 3 Phool (1961) which was on a very bold topic. He was story writer of two films Anjam (1957) and Sheikh Chili (1958). His debuted as a lyricist and penned songs in seven films, Toofan (1955) was first film as poet.

Zaheer Kashmiri (Peer Dastgeer Zaheer) was born on August 21, 1919 in Amritsar in a Kashmiri family. He did his Masters in English. He started writing articles in newspapers, under the pseudo name, Majnu. He died on December 12, 1994 in Lahore.
