Waheed Murad was the best ever romantic film hero in Pakistani films. He was introduced in film Aulad in 1962. He was supporting hero in film Daaman (1963) and became first hero in film Heera aur Pathar (1964). He got breakthrough from mega hit film Armaan in 1966. His peak period was until 1973. His downfall started in 1974 when he was forced to accept side roles against other film heroes. He was almost ignored in the late 1970s and died on November 23, 1983 in Karachi.

His last film was Zalzla (1987).
Waheed Murad was son of a film distributer Nisar Murad and was born in Sialkot on October 2, 1938. He was Masters in English literature and married to Salma Murad. His son Adil Murad was seen as hero in film Raja Sahib (1996). He died on November 23, 1983 in Karachi and was buried in Lahore.
