Nayyar Sultana was a top Urdu film heroine in the first half of the 1960s, but she was best known in character and serious roles. She began from a minor role in film Qatil in 1955 and got breakthrough in film Saheli (1960). Surayya (1961), Aulad, Mehtab, Ghoonghat (1962), Maa Kay Aansoo, Yahudi Ki Larki, Baji, Dulhan (1963), Devdas (1965) and Azmat (1973) were some of her big films as heroine. Her film pair was more popular with Habib than with her real lifes husband film hero Darpan.
Nayyar Sultana began as character actor in film Fasana-e-Dil (1969) and appeared as Malka-e-Jazbat (The Queen of Emotions) in more than 200 films until her death on October 27, 1992. She was born as Tayyaba Bano on March 4, 1932 at Indian city, Ali Garh, and migrated to Pakistan in 1954. She got President Film Award as a supporting actress in film Saheli in 1960.
