Ismael Matwala

Ismael Matwala was a recognized national Punjabi poet who played an active role in Pakistan Movement. He was associate to Radio Pakistan Lahore and wrote many national songs. He was first Punjabi poet to write any song on the founder of Pakistan, Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Ismael Matwala wrote his first film song "Bunday Chandi Day, Sonay Di Nath Lay Kay.." in film Pattan in 1955. Mahi Munda (1956), Yakkay Wali (1957) and Veryam (1969) were some of films with his hit songs. He wrote the most popular song on the Mother-relation in film Veryam (1969):

• A Maa, A Maa,
  Sadi Bulian Chun Phull Khirday Nay,
  Jadun Lainay Aan Tera Naa..

Ismael Matwala was born in 1922 and died on May 30, 1989 in Lahore.
