He was a famous TV artist who had a policeman role in very popular TV serial Andhera Ujala in the 1980s. He also appeared in the same role on silver screen in film Direct Hawaldar (1985). He was a handsome person but only restricted to supporting roles. His wife Nighat Butt and brother Khalid Butt are famous actors on Lahore TV center.
