Rekha was a busy actress from the pre-partition era in the 1930's/40's. Some of her famous movies were Neela (1935), Ashirwad (1942), Rangeelay Dost (1944), Alladin (1945), Beetey Din and Bela (1947).

Rekha was a supporting actress and appeared in 54 movies in Pakistan, 31 Urdu and 23 Punjabi. Her first film in Pakistan was Sailab (1953) and the last was Ajj da Mehinwal (1973). Some of her famous movies were Heer, Patay Khan (1955), Chhoti Begum, Chann Mahi (1956), Thandi Sarak (1957), Khandan (1964), Mera Veer (1967) etc..

Rekha's real name was Azra Peter and she was born as a Christian but became Muslim after she married renowned supporting actor, writer, producer and director Sheikh Iqbal. She died on June 14, 1989.
