Ajmal was best known for his unmatchable role of Kaido in classic film Heer Ranjha (1970). He played the same role in film Heer in 1955 as well.

Ajmal was introduced in pre-partition Lahore made Punjabi film Sohni Mehinwal in 1937. He started as villain actor and appeared in big movies like Yamla Jatt (1940), Khazanchi (1941), Khandan, Zamindar (1942), Gul Baloch (1944) etc..

Ajmal was mostly seen in supporting roles in Pakistani movies. His movies tally is 212, 77 Urdu and 135 Punjabi. His first film in Pakistan was Hichkolay (1949) and last Babul in 1990.

Ajmal (real name Mohammad Ajmal Qadri) was born on May 17, 1910 and died on June 19, 1988 in Lahore. He was elder brother of legend Punjabi film hero Akmal.
