Nazir Ali was one of the most melodious music director - especially in Punjabi film music. He composed music for more than 160 Urdu and Punjabi films. He started his film career as a assistant musicians with famous music directors Manzoor and M. Ashraf. He also assisted Bakhshi Wazir and Tasadduq Hussain. His first film was Paidagir in 1966 and the last film was Gujjar 302 in 2001.

Nazir Ali was best known for his Dhamal songs, and his composed Lal Meri Patt Rakhio Bala Jhoolay Lalan.. was the most famous Dhamal in Pakistani films. His mega hit musical films were Dillan Day Souday, Genterman (1969), Sajna Door Deya (1970), Aansoo, Mastana Mahi, Aasoo Billa (1971), Khan ChaCha, Sultan, Sajjan BeParwah (1972), Maa Da Lal (1974), Qaidi (1984) etc.

Nazir Ali died on January 5, 2013 at Lahore.
