Habib Jalib was known for his revolutionary poems - also in movies. His all time best poem was written for actress Neelo, when she refused to dance before a foreign dignitary during Ayub Khan regime. Neelo attempted suicide and ate sleeping pills. Habib Jalib paid tribute to Neelo's bravery with this poem: Raqs Zanjeer Pehan Kar Bhi Kiya Jata Hay.. This famous poem was filmed in film Zarqa by Neelo's husband producer, writer and director Raiz Shahid. The super hit song was sung by Mehdi Hassan and music was by Rasheed Attray.
His second best known film song was in film Khamosh Raho (1963), which was sung by Ahmad Rushdi Main Nahin Manta.. This poem is also known for Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif and actually was written agains Ayub's constitution of 1962. One of his revolutionary song was in film Be-Raham (1967) Tujh Ko Mili Hay Jurm-e-Gharibi Ki Yeh Saza.. This song was sung by Masood Rana and music by Rehman Varma.
Habib Jalib was born on March 24, 1928 and died on March 13, 1993.
